A big surprise awaits the SSpanisn admiral if he sails from Martinique. Gonzales, the party arrested in this city accused of being the instigator or accessory to the plot of assassinating Geu. THE ROLL OF HONOR. The democratic toll of honor con taining the names of those who voted with the republicans for the war revenue bill passed by the house, which, in addition to numer ous new internal revenue taxes, mostly the same that were imposed during the civil war, authorizes the issue of $000,000,000 in 3 per cent bonds, is not a long one, There were ouly six of them Cummincs. McClelland and Griggs, of New York: Fitzgerald, Massachusetts; MoAleer, of I'enn sylvania, and Wheeler of Alabama A few democrats declined voting at all on the bill. Two republic aDB Linnoy, of North Carolina, and Thorp, of Virginia voted with 129 democrats and populists against the bill, while 175 repub licans and six democrats voted for it. A majority of the democratic senators, all of the populist sena tors, and all of the Bo-called silver republican senators are going as far as they dare to go in opposition to the war revenue bill in the sen ate, but a canvass of the senate has shown that enough democrats wil vote with the republicans to insure the passage of the bill, substan tially as it came from the houso, and as every attempt to filibuster will be at ouco shown up not much dolay is expected in reaching vote on tho bill iu the souate. The eight or ton democrats who wil vote with the republicans for the bill will be headed by Beuator Gor man, who, nftor many years' service as chairman of tho democratic cau cus, has resigned that position largely because in supporting thi bill he will be acting agaiust a ma jority of the democrats. It is but justice to say that those who oppose this bill claim not to be actuated by any desire to hamper the fight ing power of the govern mon They seem to have an Una that the issue of bonds authorized by the bill the only quick way to raise a Urge sum of money is in some way an infringement of the rights of their silver idol, and they are therefore opposed to it. The jeo pie will probably mostly agroo with the republicans, that this is an almighty poor time to bo splitting Lairs over the finaucial question.
